highly sensitive person coach near me
My goals are simple.
Is your head swirling with
to-do lists
negative self talk
fear of judgments
not knowing where to start
Are you stuck but know you have to get started
just to get ahead of it?
Do you find yourself procrastinating and not
able to get going which then makes you feel
guilty or lazy which then turns into an
ongoing self-defeating circle?
Is the overwhelm enough to make you want
to crawl back in bed, or not even get out of bed?
I thrive on your success
I see you.
I know you.
I've been you.
I CAN HELP YOU GET OUT OF YOUR OWN WAY.
"Why can't I keep up?"
As a former overachiever and recovering perfectionist, that's what I used to ask when I compared myself to non-HSPs
Once I realized how much different HSPs take in
their environment and the world around them,
I began to see that what energizes
and revitalizes the non-highly sensitive person
actually depletes the heart-centered, introverted
and easily overstimulated person.
My Story
I am almost embarrassed to admit this, but I didn't really know that highly sensitive people (HSPs) "was a thing" until I stumbled on it by accident.
It was about twelve years ago and I had recently graduated from Widener University with my Master's degree in Clinical Social Work.
I was working as a Licensed Psychotherapist in a community mental health facility.
I had a client tell me that, from a very young age they
would cry when they heard certain music or saw
beautiful artwork and asked if I knew why that might be.
After our session, I Googled "sensitive to music and art" and the term Highly Sensitive Person populated the page.
I went down the internet rabbit hole and within an hour had ordered Dr. Elaine Aron's book The Highly Sensitive Person.
I devoured the book in a weekend and took her Highly Sensitive Person questionnaire.
Out of 27-questions in Dr. Aron's "Are You Highly Sensitive" Self test, I scored a 26!
From then on, I have done endless research on the topic and even got to meet Dr. Aron in person!
The more I learned about myself and my fellow HSPs,
the more I realized we really thrived when we
interacted with other HSPs.
It felt amazing to feel seen, heard, and understood. Validation was so powerful.
I also quickly came to appreciate just how damaging it could be when working with a therapist or coach who didn't get the Highly Sensitive trait.
I witnessed the harm that could come from well meaning professionals telling HSPs that they "just shouldn't let it bother you" or informing HSPs that what they are upset about "really isn't that big of a deal" or that they "need to just let it go."
That type of feedback can make a highly sensitive person feel like they are "too much" which isn't true.
This is what led me to work exclusively with heart-centered, highly sensitive people, at first in the therapy field and later into the life coaching sector.
AND I LOVE EVERY MINUTE OF IT!
